Kevin Thornton, UC Irvine ecology & evolutionary biology assistant professor, has been awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship. He will receive a two-year, $50,000 grant to research the genetic differences in fruit flies. Thornton is one of 118 outstanding early-career scientists from 61 institutions to receive an award this year.
